Safety
For your safety don’t walk alone in deserted areas or empty beaches at night, don’t carry excessive cash with you, don’t wear Jewellery, and don’t carry a lot of camera equipment especially in major cities. Make a copy of your passport and keep it in your luggage, wear a money belt under your clothes and be aware of pick pockets especially at clouded places.

Photography
Ask for permission before photographing local people. Do not take photographs of any official buildings such as airports; military installations, border posts or roadblocks. Wildlife can easily be photographed.  We advise you to carry your cameras in dust-proof bags on safaris, especially in the dry season. Films are available in any supermarkets.

Food and water
The standard of hygiene in international hotels and lodges are high. Salads and Ice creams are safe to eat there. Fruits you can peel are the safest. Tap water is not safe, only drink bottled mineral water. The local Kenyan beer is an ideal thirst quencher too.

Currency
The currency used in Kenya is Kenyan Shilling (K.sh.) check the rate of exchange with your bank or with online Forex bureau before you travel. Don't change too much money at a time. Use banks or official Forex exchange Bureau centers and not the street money changers in the black market. Major credit cards are not accepted everywhere, but surely in big supermarkets and in hotels.

Weather
The Weather is warm and humid at the coast- 0° above sea level cool and humid in the central highlands, north and eastern Kenya is hot and dry. Rainfall is seasonal almost across the country, although its pattern, timing and extent vary greatly from place to place and from year to year. Rainfall peaks in most areas in April and November and May through June at the Coast region.

Souvenirs
it’s illegal to collect or buy souvenirs such as coral, shells and starfish, as it contributes to the degradation of our reefs and marine life. All environmentally conscious visitors can participate in, or help to organize environmental awareness campaigns e.g. beach cleaning, tree planting, conservation publications and also contribute financially to local projects.

Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory in Kenya, however tipping for exceptional service is always appreciated and is largely at your discretion.
